Objective
The objective of sky red is to realise a system of skin characteristic analysis by infrared to be used by SMES of the pharmaceutical and cosmetic sector. The projected system will be able to analyse a specific skin characteristic, measure and quantify precisely the modifications after the application, of a new cosmetic/medical product and foresee how a specific skin would react after application. The system will support cosmetic Sees to cope with two main problems:
1) by January 2000 cosmetic and medical companies will not be allowed to test their products on animals and all experiments will have to be carried out in vitro, which implies the use of larger and more equipped (probably external) laboratories and as substantial increase of costs
2) to guarantee cosmetics that are increasingly reliable and effective, as required also by the normative. The instruments envisaged by the research project would provide a viable solution of complying with new legislative developments.
