Objective
The SAFEGARD project is designed to systematically evaluate novel enzymes, produced by molecular biology techniques to be selectively responsive and sensitive to the presence of pesticides. These enzymes will be the basis for the production established sensors, able to rapidly and routinely quantify pesticides in water another environmental samples at concentrations below recommended acceptance levels. The sensors will be fabricated by advanced interfacial techniques usingnanobiotechnology, structural modelling, electrochemical approaches and incorporated into arrays. Instrumentation will be produced, with software control, data processing, chemo metric analysis and routine monitoring capabilities. Evaluation of the sensor arrays and instrumentation will also be performed.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
