International conference on the biochemistry of lipids, September 13-16, 2000, Halle,Germany

Objective

Lipids as essential constituents in cellular signal transduction pathways and as regulators of fundamental cellular functions like cell proliferation, cell differentiation, tumour genesis and programmed cell death play a significant role in living organisms.

The objective of this proposal is therefore the organization of an International Conference on the Biochemistry of Lipids (ICBL2000) which will be held for the first time in one of the New Bundeslander at the Martin-Luther University Halle-Wittenberg in September 2000.

Scientists from Europe and oversea are invited to present recent results in lipid science in sessions on Structural biology of enzymes acting on lipids, Sources, targets and mechanisms in lipid signaling, Membrane integrity and trafficking (as invited lectures, short oral contributions and posters). The fourth session Hot Topics is dedicated to very recent results in the field of lipid research showing future developments.
