Novel wide activity insecticide toxin for non specific biopesticide production

Objetivo

The wide use of chemicals in Agriculture, especially in the field of insect pest control, has significant consequences on the environment and human health. This problem raises the emergence of new technologies and products, like Bio pesticides appear as the best way in the development of sustainable processes. Current bio pesticides are often too specific to be used against a wide range of diseases. The aim of this project is to develop a new insecticide that will promote the reduction of chemicals in Agriculture. The isolation of a new bacteria strain providing new insecticide properties will be investigated in this work. The Photorhabdus species that has been isolated from the nematode produces high molecular weight toxins. Their pathogenic potential is considered for the development of a new biological pest control agent Supported by DNA-based techniques, the objectify will be the cloning and production of the protein that have insecticide activity. The new biological products will be tested in the Agriculture.
