Novel in vitro testing platforms based on intra-and extracellular sensing

Objective

The goal of the project is to develop new in-vitro platforms for pharmaceutical screening based on animal or human cells grown on microelectrode arrays enabling simultaneous monitoring of extra- and intracellular levels of key metabolites (e.g. NO and super oxide) by using optic- electrochemical techniques. By individually addressing the electrodes of the arrays the toxicity of bio medically relevant substances can be studied with increased spatial resolution and without disturbing the living cells. The proposed in-vitro testing platforms address development of high throughput screening for detecting toxicity and development of in-vitro toxicity tests for assessing local toxicity and toxicology-toxicology. By bringing together modern technologies a novel integrated generic measurement platform will be developed to monitor metabolites in cultured cell lines and primary cells, vital for rapid drug discovery.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
