Monitoring environment and health r&d in relation to socio-economic problems : new approach to impact assessment

Objective

Observing the scientific agenda can monitor contributions of R&D activities to solve societal problems. This implies that monitoring the cognitive landscape of an R&D field provides a tool for assessing socio-economic impact of R&D. We propose to achieve this by a self-organized, document co-word based map, in which the internal structure of an R&D field is visualized. By applying cognitive mapping methods, we enhance the structure with expert input thus enabling users to explore the map from the perspective of a particular socio-economic problem. In addition, the maps will be enhanced with information on the performance of institutions. This will enable us to identify, for instance, the major actors as well as European co-operation linkages.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

This project has not yet been classified with EuroSciVoc.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
