Short-term exchanges of early career scientists in environmental biotechnology between the european union and the united states

Objective

The proposal seeks to foster collaboration between the European Union and the United States in environmental biotechnology through the exchange of early career scientists between recognized laboratories. Support is sought for ten short-term transatlantic exchange fellowships. A comparable application for exchange of ten US scientists is submitted to US federal agencies. The fellowships will cover travel to the host laboratory; housing and living expenses and they will permit the acquisition of new skills and expertise in environmental biotechnology during a three- to twelve-month stay in a US laboratory. The host institution will provide the EU fellow with an opportunity for new technical knowledge, a good infrastructure, basic supplies and exposure to an intellectual climate of excellence. The selection of the fellows will be based on the highest standards of scientific merit.
