Role of glucocorticoids in the development of diabetes type 2

Objective

The postdoctoral training of the applicant in the Lab. of Prof. S. Okret at the Karolinska Institute is justified for their notable career in the field of steroid action and factors that regulate cellular glucocorticoid sensitivity, both in health and disease. This training will provide Javier Campion the knowledge necessary in important techniques of molecular biology as transgene constructions, transfections, transgenic mice, immunocyto chemistry, and GST pull down assays. Moreover, we expect to publish the results in valuables papers. This fact, joined to the personal experience living and working in a foreign country, will contribute to the applicant to enrich him both in a scientific and personal fashion. The host institution will obtain during the time of the project a professional with the knowledge necessary about the insulin signalling, steroid action, and different techniques in molecular biology that is capable of carry out the project with success.
