Toxicological evaluation of the immune function of pesticide workers

Objective

Most of the human population is exposed to pesticides, which are ubiquitous contaminants of the ecosystem. Little is known about long-term effects consequent to prolonged, low dose-exposure to these compounds. Some laboratory data are available suggesting that prolonged exposure to pesticides may affect the immune system. This project is aimed at investigating immune parameters in subjects occupationally exposed to organ phosphorous or dithiocarbamates. A further aim of the study is the validation of a testing strategy adequate to investigate the immune system of humans exposed to immunotoxicants.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.
