Combating the mould fungi by heat

Objective

The problem to be addressed is the negative influence on human health caused by emission in the indoor climate from mould fungi in infected buildings. It is estimated that 10 - 15 % of the population in Europe are suffering from allergic related diseases. Many of these problems can be related to the occurrence of mould fungi. The present renovation technique is very expensive since more actions than elimination of the moisture source is necessary. A development of new methods is needed. The objective is to develop a cost efficient technique for combating the mould fungi by hot air and/or infrared radiation. Full-scale tests of the techniques will be carried out on infected buildings. The expected deliverables are a manual for a reliable and cost saving technology for the renovation of mould infected buildings. Likewise, to create a quality scheme for an international network of heat treatment contractors. It is expected that combating the mould fungi in building by heat can cut down the costs by at least 50 % compared to the present: technology for eradication of the mould fungi.
