Objective Chemo taxis allows bacteria to sense minor changes in their environment and respond by swimming towards optimum conditions for growth. We plan to clone the chemoreceptors from bacterial species growing in polluted environments and express them in well-characterized bacterial strains to create highly sensitive detectors of environmental contaminants.
