Objective
The market share of digital printing, highly based on toner technology, is expected to increase from 5 % today until 25 % in 2010. The technique will lead to print locally on pre-printed or unprinted paper the information produced anywhere In the world. Communication's efficiency depends on the print quality. This toner print quality is linked to the toner transfer from the printing machine to the paper, to the toner adhesion on the paper and to the paper and to the toner behaviour at paper surface. Test methods will be developed to evaluate toner transfer, toner adhesion and toner print quality. Paper surface will be optimised in order to get the targeted print quality. Pre-printing flexo water-based ink and UV offset ink leading to no solvent evaporation will be developed and the surface treatments of papers will be optimised. The parameters of the toner printing machines will be optimised as well as the toner properties. Print conditions will be defined for eco, high quality, environmental friendly and low-cost prints.
