Hydraulic, sedimentological and ecological problems of multifunctional riparian forest management

Objective

Riparian forests are non-marketed natural resources: habitats for plants and animals, flood retention and recreational areas are services offered by them. Sustainable, multifunctional management of riparian forests needs improved knowledge on the interaction of hydraulic, sediment logical and ecological processes involved. Field investigations, laboratory experiments and numerical modelling in different scales will study the interactions. Management guidelines for riparian forests are looked for as output of the project.
