Objective
Markets for non-food crop products are emerging, but development is hampered by uncoordinated efforts, lack of sector structure & produce specifications. End users are often unaware of benefits of & opportunities for non-food products. There has been much 'science push' but market orientation is now the key to success in this sector. This project will characterise markets & specifications for primary produce as major targets, & ensure focused networking & information transfer to the whole industry. The project will disseminate information at meetings; assess potential for non-food crops in EU accessing/associated states extend a database of products from plants; verify market size/specification for non-food crop products & disserninate on website & data sheets; extend existing non-food contacts; measure uptake of non-food crops.
