Assessment of the commercial impact of shared cost research in the area of non-food products supported under the air (1991-1994) programme

Objective

To analyse the results of shared cost projects funded by the Agro-Industrial RTD Programme (AIR) of FP3, in order to determine to what extent the work carried out has had an impact on industrial use of agricultural raw materials. AIR, that was the second Programme to link agriculture and industry (preceded by ECLAIR and followed by FAIR). The report will focus on around 40 projects covering Green Chemicals and Renewable Bio products selected from over 130 non-food activities, 6 to 8 years after final project reports were produced. Individuals, especially from industrial partners and other organisations identified as contributing to 'exploitation' of results will be interviewed and results collated and summarised. The report will be the first to describe the industrial impact of the research supported in these areas and will assist the Commission in evaluation of their research policies, as well as being made widely available in book form and through
