Objective
European community especially interested in the enhancement of the competitiveness of European agriculture. General objectives imply to improve the management of agricultural resources. High-resolution satellite data have been used to assess and control cultivated areas, which could permit a better knowledge of spatial distribution of agricultural resources. Despite of efforts in this area in last ages, further studies within image processing and software development is needed to make reliable this useful technique (20-25% error). There is need to create new models to apply to the images proceeding from satellites. These models should be based in algorithms, which could treat and process inputs. Models should also permit the comparison with alphanumeric databases. The main project objective is: Developing a method to process digital images to assess crop type and crop production, within an error lower than 5%.
