Enzymatic re-connection of cellulose chains for quallty improvement of recycled paper and reduction of paper sludge generation

Objective

The idea of the proposed R&D project is the utilisation of paper sludge and low quality pulp by a new innovative biotechnological method. The idea is to connect short cellulose chains originating from paper sludge and waste paper pulp to long, high quality cellulose chains through an enzymatic biotechnological reaction. Such a biological process could reduce the amount of paper sludge for deposit reduced to a minimum. Further, high quality value could bead to low quality recycling paper.
