Development of greenhousefoils and additives to optimize the plant growth through control of photomorphogenese.

Objective

Control of plant growth & diseases is a major problem in horticulture which today’s solved by quantities of chemical growth regulators, fungicides and herbicides. Cost, increased ecological awareness and regulatory issues call for substitutes. One promising solution is through selective filtering of the sunlight. Researchers in D, IL, J, and NL, UK have demonstrated the principle, but no solutions are commercially available as yet. The SME partners from Germany and Israel therefore aim at developing with the help of leading research partners in the field, designer’ plastic cladding foils for greenhouses with integrated spectral filters. Material properties will be defined for optimum use in horticulture in different climates: PAR transmission > 90 %; NIR transmission < 30%; very low FIR transmission; photo selectivity according to climatic needs: low transmission of dark-red / extended dark-red, selective UV transmission; good mechanical and chemical properties.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
