Natural oxylipins and defence in ornamentals

Objetivo

Aims: Engineer plant oxlip synthesis in vitro to assess their usefulness as” green" ant microbial and pesticide chemoprotectants. Manipulate plant oxylipinbiosynthesis in vivo to modify defence reactions for improved resistance to pests and pathogens. Objectives: To produce an "oxlip tool kit" (recombinant enzymes and oxylipins in analytical quantities); to generate extensive knowledge on the in vivo role of oxylipins in plant-pest and -pathogen interactions by generating aeries of transgenic lines in Arabidopsis with altered oxlip metabolism throughoverexpression and/or antisepses suppression of the biosynthetic genes; to apply the gained knowledge and tools to protection of ornamental plants. Outputs:Oxylipin tool kit; oxlip profiles in wild type and transgenic Arabidopsis andPelargonium plants; a collection of transgenic arabidopsis lines with alteredoxylipin metabolism; prototype transgenic lines of Pelargonium.
