Objective
Molecular Breeding approaches have recently provided the framework for significantly accelerating breeding of woody species regarding biotic and biotic stress resistance. A two-week laboratory based course entitled"Genomics and Forest Tree Stress Tolerance" is consequently proposed in order to bring together scientists from well established with currently developing labs in this cutting edge biotechnology discipline. The course will be taught by leading European experts. Thirty participants and approximately 5-8 instructors will be invited. Classroom, laboratory and computer demonstrations, as well as hands-on training will be provided. A database with relevant labs will be compiled and course announcements will be distributed. Participants from Central European countries as well as from Mediterranean Non-Community countries (non-EU funding secured) will be invited.
