Electrostatic air cleaning in intensive agriculture

Objective

The intensive livestock sector is under increasing pressure to conform to industrial standards with respect to emissions from animal units. In future large units will have to conform to standards laid down by Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) directorate. Particular emphasis will be placed on emissions of ammonia and particulate matter from livestock units. Emissions from livestock units not only affect the environment and the local human population but also have serious effects on the housed livestock and the health of stock-persons working in the environment, the project proposes to develop a novel technology in a system of unusual circuit design combined with a novel ion initiator specifically targeting the problems shown.
