Objective
The objective of this Exploratory Award is to supply quantified background information on the current and future markets of environmentally benign, reliable and efficient organic crop growth inputs (fertilisers; plant protection agents), particularly for intensive and organic horticulture. The current market situation of these inputs is one of scarcity, a situation that restricts the 'greening' of primary food production. The objective of the anticipated CRAFT Project following this Exploratory phase is to supply the growing and as yet unmet demand across the EU for such agricultural inputs. This is done by:
1) optimising existing 'green' manufacturing processes taking into consideration processing quality (ISO9001) and organic standards for input-use (EU-regulation 2092/91);
2) scientific in vivo product testing for efficacy and sustainability, and;
3) trans-European co-operation between Sees, RTD performers and end-users to optimise production and market profiling.
