Developing and validating a growth model for short rotation poplar that accounts for genetic variability

Objective

TRAINING CONTENT will include:
(a) formal courses in appropriate computer programming languages;
(b) collaborative research with an inter-disciplinary team carrying out research on aspects of growth and yield of fast-growing short rotation coppice species for renewable bio energy;
(c) collaborative opportunities with scientists involved in joint projects lead by the host organisation. ANTICIPATED IMPACT. The absence of model sensitivity to growth variability resulting from the interactions between the genetic make-up of a plant, its environment and the age of the individual is a recognised limitation of the current generation of models. Through his research the applicant will have the potential to become a major player in the development of new tree growth models. Products of the research will benefit the host organisation, in its capacity as a leading provider of scientific products used by policy makers, industrial organisations and scientists in forestry.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
