Objective
The objective of Ergo wood is to give the European logging industry a better competitiveness through development of the organisation of logging operations and its machinery. Mechanisation is one way to reduce costs in logging, and to keep peripheral regions on the market. However, it must be done without jeopardising the operators' health. The project intends to find guidance on ergonomic matters. This will encourage the development of safe and efficient forest machines, as well as the improvement of the sustainability in human resources. The project also involves sharing good examples of work organisation. The measured effects will be presented in terms of economical, social and health output. Reliable cost/benefit methods will be developed making it easier to decide on ergonomic investments. The project has a significant input by the industry, which will ensure its practicality output.
