Objective
The Nova Cell process is a new resource and eco-efficient sulphur free concept for manufacturing of chemical pulp. The proposed European project will develop a solid techno-economical platform for an implementation of the Nova Cell process into the European chemical pulp industry. Recent discoveries in pulping catalysis and oxygen dezincification form the scientific and technological basis for the project. The elimination of sulphur creates a new odourless image for the industry; simplify effluent recycle and by-product valorisation. The Nova Cell process uses conventional machinery, which will greatly facilitate introduction of the process into existing pulp mills. A strong consortium will ensure that the project objectives will be met for the benefit of the European pulp and paper industry, fibre consumers and European citizens.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
