Isolation and characterisation of novel proteases involved in plant programmed cell death, disease resistence and senescence

Objective

Programmed cell death (PCD) mediates an array of developmental events in plants (e.g. leaf senescence, post harvest loss of nutritional quality) and mediates the response of plants towards pathogens and adverse environmental conditions (e.g. flooding and salinity stress). This project is focused on isolation and characterisation of novel plant proteases involved in PCD to provide tools for improvement of plant disease resistance and quality of food raw materials.
