Research, development and demonstration of a novel non-invasive continence management system (NICMS)

Objective

This proposal aims to develop practical non-invasive continence management system for people, particularly women, with severe continence difficulties. Research will build on the earlier work on the Active Urine Collection Device (AUCD). The success of this device relies on its unique ability to remove urine as rapidly as it is produced whilst using a very small battery operated pump. Research will be focussed on developing three types of user/device interfaces. European wide testing and improvement will ensure a significant breakthrough in continence management in the community.
