Patient education in parkinson's disease (EDUPARK)

Objectif

The overall objective of this project is to improve the quality o life of people suffering from a chronic degenerative disease, i.e. Parkinson's Disease (PD) through patient education and psychosocial support. The importance of patient education and psychosocial support (in addition to medical treatment) cannot be overemphasised given the complexities of PD. Recommendations for patient education and psychosocial support will take into account the existing situation of PD patients in the 7 European countries participating in this project. Three treatment modules will be implemented which focus on the patient's problems as well as those of the carer. These modules will form part of a standardised patient education and training programme, which will be developed by national experts of the participating countries and will be implemented by interdisciplinary rehabilitation teams.
