Improving environmental health research and management in newly associated states (HEAR NAS)

Objective

The accompanying measures should help to integrate the Slovak science sector acting in environmental health research and management into ERA. The Centre is defined as an assembly of working units, which have participated in 5th FP and other EC co-ordinated and internationally based third party projects. The aim is to establish networks with research centres in EU and NAS involved in Community environmental strategies for dioxins and related compounds, toxic mineral fibbers, heavy metals, fungi and mycotoxins, alternative methods, BSE, atop and allergy, age related and significant infectious diseases and cancer. It is proposed to increase the scope of the Centre by enlargement of its regional coverage to other NAS and also by joining JRC activities. Twinning with fellow centres in the EU and NAS will lead to joint workshops and training on relevant environmental health topics.
