PV/TH MEDURBAN BUILDINGS. Combined electric and thermal energy production in existing and new buildings with photovoltaic envelope components

Objective

THE GENERAL MEANING IS TO GIVE A CONTRIBUTION FOR THE PROMOTION OF-LARGE SCALE DIFFUSION OF PV BUILDING ENVELOPE COMPONENT, BY STUDYING THE BARRIERS EXISTING AT THE INTERFACE BETWEEN THE PV TECHNOLOGY AND THE ARCHITECTURAL USE OF IT. IN PARTICULAR:
1. THE DEVELOPMENT OF TOOLS AND METHODOLOGIES FOR AN ENERGY / CONSCIOUS DESIGN APPROACH IN BUILDING RETROFIT, BY MEANS
OF THE INTEGRATED, BIOCLIMATIC USE OF THE ENVELOPE COMPONENTS CAPABLE OF CONVERTING SOLAR ENERGY INTO ELECTRIC AND, WHENEVER APPLICABLE, THERMAL ENERGY.
2. THE IDENTIFICATION OF THE MAIN BARRIERS (INSTITUTIONAL AS BUILDING REGULATIONS, URBAN PLANNING CONSTRAINTS, NATIONAL
LEGISLATION, ENVIRONMENTAL, ETC.) TO THE USE OF PV AS
BUILDING ENVELOPE AND THE EVALUATION OF THE INTERACTION
BETWEEN THE GRID CONNECTED PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS AND THE
ELECTRIC UTILITY ON BOTH TECHNICAL AND ECONOMICAL GROUNDS.
3. THE REALIZATION OF A PILOT PREFEASIBILITY PLAN IN A TYPICAL MEDITERRANEAN URBAN AREA (PALERMO) AIMING AT A "ZERO EMISSION" TOWN WITH A LARGER INVOLVEMENT OF THE MAIN ECONOMIC AND INSTITUTIONAL SUBJECT (THE LOCAL MUNICIPALITY, THE NATIONAL AND THE LOCAL ENERGY UTILITIES).
4. THE CREATION, WITHIN THE MUNICIPAL ENERGY UTILITY (AMG) OF PALERMO, SICILY, OF A "DESIGN ASSISTANCE CENTRE" FOR
INTEGRATION OF RENEWABLE ENERGIES AT LOCAL LEVEL AND
ASSISTANCE TO ARCHITECTS, ENGINEERS, DECISION MAKERS AND
LOCAL ADMINISTRATORS.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
