Objective
Current hot rolling lubrication, based on the use of emulsion (0.2 to 1mgr of oil mixed in water), causes many problems in term of control, consistency and reproducibility of the results and maintenance. The guaranty of a high and constant quality of the emulsion is not achieved; consequently the lubrication efficiency shows a high scattering.
The main objective of this project is to develop a new concept of hot rolling lubrication in order to apply pure oil thanks to atomisation or injection. Particular attention is given to the efficiency and consistency of the results, to a minimization of the maintenance problems and reduction water pollution due to loss in water.
Thanks to such a system, natural oil can be applied. These oils are low cost, efficient and less polluting. First laboratory continuous pilot trials are very promising in term of efficiency, safety and maintenance needs.
