Fatigue behaviour of high strength steels welded joints in offshore and marine systems

Objective

Several Standards/Recommendations are available for welded joints fatigue design; such codes can be over conservative, sometimes not accounting for specific in service conditions (e.g. high R values) and not covering high-grade steels.

Recently the technological evolution, in particular for offshore applications, seems to point out a trend towards an increasing use of high strength/ high quality/high performances welded joints (SMYS 420 MPa) and the need to develop a specific know-how on their fatigue behaviour is becoming a crucial issue.

The general aim of this proposal is to comply with this request and to contribute to enlarge the Standards applicability.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
