Exploitable results

Due to stringent legal regulations for environmental protection and pollution control there is a high demand for the purification of off gases from power stations, heating combustion units and chemical plants producing such wastes. It was the aim of this research to develop the scientific and engineering fundamentals of sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxide removal as the bases of new electrochemical gas purification techniques. Based on the experimental results, 2 different process schemes were developed and tested under technical conditions: the lead dioxide dithionite process (LDP); the cerium (IV) assisted process (CAP). Further work on the realization of both process by construction of pilot plants and tests under industrial conditions are in progress.
