Objective
BY LABORATORY EXPERIMENTS AND THE OPERATION OF 1 CUBIC METRE PILOT PLANT, A SUFFICIENT KNOWLEDGE OF THE PROCESS WAS ARCHIVED DURING 14 MONTHS OF ACTIVITIES. THERE IS THE NEED TO OPERATE ON A LARGER SCALE WITH A SINGLE-STAGE PILOT PLANT (2.000 M3) TO BE INSTALLED IN AN AREA, JUST IDENTIFIED, WHERE DIFFERENT SOURCES OF WASTES ARE AVAILABLE.
THE LARGE SIZE PILOT PLANT ALLOWS TO VERIFY LABORATORY DATA AS THE BALANCE OF DIFFERENT WASTES IN ORDER TO OPTIMISE NUTRIENT RATIOS, SOLID CONCENTRATION, MIXING, DIGESTION KINETICS AND QUALITY OF EFFLUENTS. NEVERTHELESS THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVE IS TO OPTIMISE THE PROCESS THROUGH THE STUDY OF THE FOLLOWING :
- INFLUENCE OF NON-BIODEGRADABLE BY-PRODUCTS HEAVIES (GLASS,METALS) AND LIGHTS (PLASTICS).
- SOLID WASTES SIZING INFLUENCE ON GAS YIELD, BIODEGRABILITY OF FIBROUS MATERIALS, AND OVERALL ENERGY RECOVERY.
- BLENDING OF SOLID AND LIQUID WASTE IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A HOMOGENEOUS SLURRY.
- SETTLEABILITY INFLUENCE ON DEWATERING PROCESS FOR DIGESTED SLUDGE.
THE PILOT PLANT WILL BE EQUIPPED WITH THE LATEST HARDWARE TECHNOLOGY AND AUTOMATIC PROCESS MONITORING AND CONTROL CAPABILITIES.
