FILTRATION AND NONLINEAR DIFFUSION PROCESSES

Objective



The central objective of this project is to bring together an interdisciplinary team of research workers with experience ranging from the modelling of industrial processes to the general theory of nonlinear problems. This team will study realistic mathematical models for filtration and nonlinear diffusion in the sciences and engineering with particular focus on the problems of filtration of moisture in soil, fresh and salt water flows, multicomponent ion exchange, and semiconductor fabrication. It is intended that mathematical methods and numerical techniques will be developed and applied to the analysis of these and similar models.
