Objective
Theoretical calculations have been performed in the following areas of nuclear physics:
grand unified theories and the double beta decay;
lepton and flavour number non conservation; neutrino properties;
approximate symmetries in nuclear structure;
effective operators for nuclear structure calculations;
hadron structure and interactions in the quark model;
the optical model and short range correlations;
occupation probabilities in the nuclear shell model.
Three groups at the University of Tuebingen, at the University of Ioannina and at the Nuclear Research Center "Democritos" have already independent experience in the field of neutrino physics. Neutrinos are those particles where one can expect to find "new physics" at low energies. The double neutrinoless beta-decay may allow to find that the neutrino is identical with its antiparticle as predicted by the most successful trials to unify the electroweak and the strong interaction. To extract from the data the information, one needs detailed theoretical analysis. We want to combine our forces and study the problems outlined in our proposal. We expect a major step forward in this field.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
