Objective
The field of control theory faces unprecedented challenges on two fronts. First, scientific and technological progress is demanding innovative uses of nonlinear systems theory in many new applications such as robotics and aerospace, for which the established methods are insufficient. Second, important fundamental problems within the field remain unsolved and new ideas are needed to make further advances. This research program exhibits some fundamental classical questions as well as studies of singularities in nonlinear systems. The role of each research group participating in this project is to investigate further the recently developped theory and to bring new concepts for complex but very common problems in nonlinear systems theory: controllability and observability, feedback control, optimal control, realization.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
