Objectif
The results achieved for cerium (neodymium) manganese tin systems prove indeed the formation of ferromagnetic or ferrimagnetic correlations for the manganese atoms depending on the crystal structures adopted by the ternary compounds observed. According to the structural chemical concept, the large tin atoms were found to stabilize ternary ordered structure types with large interatomic separations for the manganese atoms, favouring ferromagnetic manganese manganese interactions.
Although magnetic parameters in terms of permanent magnet performance are insufficient and therefore the potential for direct exploitation or commercialization of the results is still low, the results obtained prove the ability of manganese atoms to engage in ferromagnetic interactions (favourable crystal structures provided) and therefore are very encouraging.
