RURAL PV ELECTRIFICATION IN THE CATALAN REGION OF LA GARROTXA

Objective

To electrify 70 sites of the Catalan region of La Garroxta with autonomous pv systems.
To supply power to houses, farms, and service developments in mountains of this region.
To set up a local maintenance service.
Major achievements are the TApS C-8448 power conditioning units, designed by Trama Tecnoambiental, that contain in one unit : Charge regulator, inverter, dc-converter, control panel and monitoring system.
70 rural sites, permanently inhabited, are equipped with two types of autonomous pv systems:
High level (type A): 500 to 1800 Wp, 48 V batteries, charge regulator with MPPT, modular inverter 1 to 4 kW. Low level (type B): 280 to 500 Wp, 24 V batteries, charge regulator with MPPT, inverter 600 W. Only eight systems of type B are foreseen.
Some of the installations have back-up Diesel generators and two have wind generators. Total installed power is 48 kWp.
The project is managed by a users association "SEBA", that owns the equipment and is responsible for maintenance, insurance and renewal.
Equipment can be transfered to a new site, if no longer needed on an old site.
