Objective
To promote the installation and guaranteed use of PV electricity in isolated regions without grid connection. Technical, administrative and financial support to installers and users. Maintenance and guarantee of availability is made by EdF/GdF against monthly lump payment by the users.
30 isolated houses are provided with stand alone PV generators rated at either 1176 Wp (20 houses) or 1764 Wp (10 houses). The total installed PV power is 41160 Wp.
The consumption is mainly on 24 V, as most appliances are for 24 V dc. However a small inverter (850) VA is added at each house for some minor 220 V ac appliances. Hence each house has both a 24 dc supply and a 220 V ac supply. Where a house has an existing diesel or hydro generator, this is coupled to the new PV generator to provide a hybrid power supply system.
An important feature of the project is the new APEX intelligent electronic control system (SUNBUS), which also acts as a data acquisition system. By transferring data using a variety of techniques to suit particular installations selected, local agents are able to offer the users guaranteed results.
