USE OF SOLAR ENERGY IN CONNECTION TO RENEWAL OF OLD INDUSTRY AND TRADE BUILDINGS INTO OFFICES AND SERVICES

Objectif

The aim of the project is to demonstrate the use of renewable energy sources and energy conservation measures in renovation of buildings. Hereby the consumption of heat based on oil and gas sources will be reduced.
The aim is as well to execute the renovation with the greatest possible use of recycling materials.
The reduction of heat-consumption due to the renovation of the weather screen, energy conservation measures and the use of renewable energy sources will also reduce the emission from oil-based energy sources.
Weather-screen :
The heat consumption of the building is reduced as well as the indoor climate is improved.
Ventilation and regain of heat :
The ventilation system and the rotating heat exchanger with an efficiency of 80% demonstrate an effective utilisation of energy that with great advantage can be used in other buildings.
Air solar panel :
The system will show the utilization of solar energy in a combination of simple technology the solar panel and high technology as the photovoltaic.
The calculated payback time of 144 years is a very conservative estimate. The use of the building was much more intensive after the installations have been made, but this factor cannot be put into figures.
When taken into consideration the low activity level in the building in the first period used as reference, the oil saving was higher.
It is not possible to quantify this factor although it is very important to the calculation of the payback time. It might have resulted in a considerably shorter payback time.
Without financial support from other sources as happened in this case the project could not have been carried out.
The building is one of the oldest factory buildings in Copenhagen from approximately 1850 and is today used as a theatre.
The project will reduce the heat consumption by improving the weather-screen of the building, implementation of energy conservation measures and use of renewable energy sources.
The weather-screen : insulation of walls, roof and storey partition; tightening of the walls; repairing of the roof. All windows will be replaced with windows with casement of recycling-wood. Due to Preservation-Regulations one layer glass windows and storm-windows with low emission glass will be mounted. A ventilation system, attached to the auditorium and the dress-makers workroom, will use the surplus energy from the auditorium for preheating of fresh air. The system is equipped with an air/air regain-device and is an example of an efficient energy utilisation.
The Pavillon attached to the theatre for serving of refreshment, demonstrates the utilisation of solar energy through a solar panel for heating of air and a photovoltaic that supply the power for a ventilator connected to the solar-panel. The solar energy is stored in a stone-bench and is used for heating the Pavillon.

Programme(s)
