Objective
A former industrial site, meanwhile abandoned, will be rebuilt for housing and commercial use. The project combines different energy saving techniques. Screens for windows, active solar with a seasonal storage combined with active system and a heat pump, passive cooling and energy cascading which means multiple heat use. The results will be used to check the environmental impact of the new site and to gather experience for other urban areas which have to be rebuilt. The monitoring will focus on energy consumption as well as user behaviour. The total building volume is 264000 m3 with a total floor area of 88000 m3.
