Objective
To contribute to a clean energy supply for large office buildings by application of multifunctional facades with integrated solar cells.
To apply the innovative ASE module technology, to demonstrate the satisfying visual and technical integration into the facade and to optimize module and array switching and protection.
A PV facade rated at 20.1 kWp is installed on a new office complex on a prime site in Berlin-Tiergarten for the company Klammt AG.
It is directly connected to the local grid using a 17 kW inverter made by Sun-Power. The facade design involves the use of mirror glass, which is well suited for the introduction of the Nukem MIS-I polycrystalline PV modules. Nukem have developed a new resin encapsulation technique for such modules and this has been tested by the JRC Ispra. For this project it is proposed that a set of project specific modules be produced to fit in with the building architecture.
