Objective
As a part of a large town renewal at Slagelse three old multistorey buildings have been equipped with different active and passive solar systems. New types of roof integrated collectors of attic collectors with vertical absorbers and reflecting roller blinds are utilized. A new cheap air collector is used in combination with heat recovery; A new type of buffer heat storage is used, heat of exhaust air will be recovered. Common collectors for common heating of several urban buildings will be demonstrated.
The three urban properties situated at respectively Lovegade 60A, Olufsgade 5-7, and Absalonsgade 21 were built around the turn of the century. The layout and state of maintenance of the properties necessitated extensive changes and repair work.
In addition to the energy conservation measures described in the following, a legislation of the fire and sewer conditions of the buildings has been carried out. A general additional insulation scheme has been carried out, including new windows and external doors. New toilet and bath facilities have been installed, and new kitchens have been put in.
Only a small number of the original tenants have moved back into the renewed dwellings. An evaluation of the various energy conservation measures is being made, and is expected to be finished by the end of 1991.
1. LOVEGADE 60A:
- DESCRIPTION :
The property is a two-storey urban house with utilized attic, which including the back wing has a gross floorage of approx. 222 m2, and the original arrangement has been retained with three tenancies, one on each storey. - ENERGY CONSERVATION MEASURES :
On the south-facing roof surface a 5 m2 ventilation sun collector has been installed for preheating of the intake of air from outside. When the temperature is too high, the air intaked is bypassed around the solar collectors.
- DESCRIPTION OF THE ENERGY INSTALLATIONS :
The extraction system from kitchen and bath is connected to a recycling unit in the attic injection of pre-and postheated air into the living areas.
2. ABSALONSGADE 21 :
- DESCRIPTION :
The property is a two-storey urban house with utilized loft and full basement. It contains three dwellings, one on each storey.
Only the ground floor dwelling has been kept unchanged. After establishing a greenhouse extension the gross floorage is approx. 333 m2.
- ENERGY CONSERVATION MEASURES :
At the garden elevation of the building facing west a greenhouse extension has been built with single glazing for the utilization of paasivesolar heat.
On the west-facing part of the root a solar collector of approx. 8 m2 has been installed for heating the donestic water supply.
- DESCRIPTION OF ENERGY INSTALLATIONS :
- The glass extension will provide extra weather protection and counter building heat losses. The solar heat will be accumulated in the heavy mesonry walls and slowly diffused into the living areas.
3. OLUFSGADE 5-7 :
- DESCRIPTION :
The building is a three-storey urban property with two stairways and a total of 12 dwellings. The top dwellings are in a mansard and have been extented by utilising the attic above them. There is a full basement under the building. After establishing the greenhouse extension on the west-facing elevation of the building, the gross floorage is approx. 835 m2. - ENERGY CONSERVATION MEASURES : As a seasonal extension to the buildings there has been established on the garden elevation of the building facing west a greenhouse with double glazing for utilizing the passive solar heat.
