INDUSTRIAL ESTATE WITH ACTIVE AND PASSIVE SOLAR HEATING SYSTEMS ON THE ISLAND OF SAMOS

Objective

Combination of solar active as well as passive systems for the heating and cooling of a small industrial building on Samos Island Greece.
The solar energy production is estimated with 370,000 Kwh/y more than 80% compared to a conventional system.

The factory-office complex includes five buildings with a total floor area of 1,700 m2. The production hall for wind mills has a floor area of 1,000 m2 itself. The innovative aspect is the combination of different solar technics.
Controlled by a microprocessor unit the heating and cooling is provided by:
- Trombe walls
- Attached greenhouse
- Roof pond
- Solar water heater
- Heat pump
The central control unit will ensure
a) the thermal comfort in the buildings
b) a steady supply of energy from wind mills and the national grid. The wind mills are not subject of the contract. Two data logger systems will ensure the monitoring campaign. It is foreseen to analyse the different flows and efficiencies on a hourly, daily, monthly and annual basis.
