LARGE SCALE SOLAR SYSTEM FOR PREHEATING INDUSTRIAL BOILER FEEDWATER

Objective

To demonstrate the technical and economic feasibility of constructing large solar collectors in situ:
- solar collectors of +-2,000 m2 surface are, in four sections of +- 500 m2.

The system consists of the following components:
- four cooling loops with heat-exchangers and circulating pumps,
- a feed waterloop,
- solar heat storage system: short term (some hours, 15 m3 and long term (1 day, 2 x 50 m3).
The produced heat is used for preheating steam boiler feedwater (15 t/h, 9 ATA, 174 C from 7 C to 25-40-60-80 C depending on the number of solar collector sections in operation.
Total annual energy output of the system is estimated +- 800 Mwh.
