Objective
In accordance with the energy, environmental, and social policy stated by the EU Commission and the national Parliaments in the participating countries there will be a need for further development of the technologies for power and heat generation in an environmentally balanced way for example by developing clean technologies for utilising solid fuels.
This project will result in the demonstration of an advanced PF technology for power generation with efficiency greater than 55%. This improved level of efficiency will give economic and environmental advantages over current power generation technologies. The technology will be primarily based on coal but will be applicable to other fuels such as biomass. During the conceptual feasibility work one or more process designs will be completed. Feed-back from the demonstration phase will produce valuable information about construction, commissioning and operation of a USC plant.
The demonstration programme has the overall objective to end up with a fully developed and demonstrated pulverised coal-fired power plant with very high efficiency. To achieve this goal, the project has been divided into the following phases :
phase 1 : Design
phase 2 : Manufacturing
phase 3 : Erection
phase 4 : Commissioning
phase 5 : Monitoring
This application covers the first part of Phase 1 (6 years). The total duration of phase 1 is 9 years.
