Improved rheological characterisation of ceramic slips and glazes using zeta potential measurements

Objective

The characterisation and quality control of materials used in the whitewares industry for production processes is critical to ensure high yields. At present the ceramic industry relies heavily on the preparation, processing and use of a wide variety of aqueous suspensions of clay and mineral powders. Currently the rheology of these is controlled by torsion viscometry and density data but these methods are somewhat crude and often give poor results. By the use of Zeta Potential as a quality control and research tool it is intended to reduce losses caused by the use of unsuitable products.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
