Primary reference clock

Objective

Background:
A more accurate primary reference clock, as foreseen in this project, will enable greater use of the radio frequency spectrum, particularly in the field of mobile and aerospace applications. Benefits will include enabling the radio communications industry to better serve its customer base, freeing it from current restraints caused by the problems of precise channel mensuration. The finished product will increase the number of channels in the radio frequency spectrum by at least 10%.

Objectives: The aim of the project to design and develop a new, more accurate primary reference clock of reduced size and weight to:- improve standard laboratory calibration;- improve telecom network synchronisation;- increase channel capacity and improve stability in the radio spectrum by 10%.The prototype will supersede all available alternatives providing a cheaper model with an accuracy factor of 10-14.

Work programme:
There are six work packages - each resulting in key deliverables:
Work package A: Design and procurement. Agreement of module design, system and prototype module. Evaluation and procurement of component parts.
Work package B: Evaluation and research into individual PRC elements with the aim of determining how improvement scan be made.
Work package C: Mechanical construction and test of individual module elements.
Work package D: Assimilation of individual modules into prototype PRC - system test and evaluation of completeunit.
Work package E: Documentation and accreditation.Compilation of test specifications.
Work package F: Verification of accreditation andpreparation and execution of information dissemination strategy.

State of progress: The project will start shortly. 03

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
