Objectif
The PEPITA study will cover future trends in Telematics Applications via two basic questions:
- How will process engineering activities in the future influence telematics applications, and which applications might be valuable business process implementation tools ?
- How might the introduction of telematics applications influence existing business processes, and what - maybe new - process engineering techniques are needed to prepare the organisational basis for system implementation ?
The user sectors covered by the study will be health care organisations, public administrations, educational organisations, organisations in rural and urban areas, and any kind of service providers.
The project will survey the existing provision of business processes assisted by telematics applications and will gather information about future trends and user requirements.
The study will focus on the potential of telematics applications within the framework of new business processes in the target organisations.
Expected Impacts
PEPITA will provide relevant, timely and accurate information to help consortia target their efforts on areas of real need and greatest potential, as well as giving them guidelines to help in the selection of appropriate methodologies for the definition and development of successful solutions.
The major impact of PEPITA will come in the formation stage of project proposals and in the demonstration stage by providing information about the trends identified in the relevant sector.
A major output of the project will be a proposal for focused clusters of projects in subsequent calls of the Telematics Programme.
Target Audience
PEPITA's results are aimed principally at consortiums submitting project proposals but the results of the study will also assist the European Commission in the maximisation of the impact of the resources allocated to the Telematics programme through the identification of real needs, as well as helping in the assessment of project proposals to ensure that proposals are addressing real problems and will be able to add real value.
Key results and deliverables
The consortium will prepare a summary brochure in addition to the project report, which will cover the most important results of PEPITA together with management guidelines on best practice of business process re-engineering in relation to Telematics. These will be available as soon as the data are analysed, and they will be distributed via Commission services.
A CD-ROM version of the results will be available. There will also be a series of five workshops, where the consortium will present the results to potential Telematics Programme proposers.
